Releasing What No Longer Serves You

In this article

There is a freedom that comes from letting go. But letting go is not about giving up — it is about making space for something better.

We all carry things that were never meant to be carried: old stories about who we are, guilt from past mistakes, the weight of others expectations, fears that belong to yesterday.

Releasing is a practice, not a one-time event. Here is how you can start:

1. Name what you are carrying. Write it down. Give it words. What you can name, you can release.

2. Ask yourself: Is this mine to carry? So much of what we hold onto belongs to other people — their opinions, their disappointments, their unprocessed emotions. You have permission to put it down.

3. Create a release ritual. Light a candle. Write what you are ready to let go of on a piece of paper. Burn it (safely). Or tear it up and throw it away. Let the physical act symbolize your inner release.

4. Breathe into the empty space. When you let something go, do not immediately fill the space. Sit in the quiet. Let your soul adjust to the newfound lightness.

You are not losing anything by releasing. You are making room for your true self to emerge.
